Ampelakia: Where Time Stands Still

Nestled on the slopes of Mount Kissavos, near the historic Tempi Valley, Ampelakia is a village where architecture, history, and everyday life come together in unexpected ways.

During a photography excursion with Out of Focus 2014, I had the opportunity to explore this remarkable corner of Thessaly, Greece, through my camera. Beyond its traditional mansions and winding streets, Ampelakia carries the legacy of a community that once became a remarkable example of cooperation and collective achievement.

For me, photography is not simply about documenting places. It is about observing the subtle relationship between light, memory, and the passage of time. Every street, every architectural detail, and every quiet corner offers an opportunity to pause and discover something that might otherwise go unnoticed.

This photographic series is an invitation to experience Ampelakia not merely as a historical destination, but as a place of stories, textures, and emotions — a reminder that sometimes the most meaningful journeys begin when we slow down and truly observe the world around us.
