Places and Memory

These series are tied to specific ground. What I Call Home is Chania, Crete — the city I return to, photographed as somewhere lived in rather than visited. Venizelos Tombs looks at the hill above it through trees and afternoon light. Agioi Apostoloi follows the southern coast at sunset. Castles reads stone architecture as something still in use rather than preserved. Portugal in Black and White was made in Lisbon over a September. Threshold was shot on black-and-white film across Thessaloniki, along the edges the city is built from. What holds them together is method rather than subject: routes walked often enough to stop noticing, until a camera makes them visible again.
